The Opportunity

Adelaide Hills Council’s Mobile Library van is much loved amongst the widespread Hills community.

Visiting townships across the district, the van delivers books, magazines, music, DVDs, audiobooks and more, to foster the love of reading and entertainment.

Following the purchase of a new van, communikate et al was engaged to create a new look and feel that utilises a series of custom illustrations that reflect learning, discovery, education and the environment. While the van was the catalyst, the design needed to be flexible enough to apply to a range of other library assets.

Our Approach

From books to chooks, birds, mushrooms, flowers, binoculars, owls, coffee and possums, the colourful illustrations came together against the backdrop of sky blue to create a distinctive library brand.

Beyond the Mobile Library van, the creative was applied to:

  • Postcards
  • Poster
  • Bookmarks
  • Sticker set
  • Digital assets including social media tiles and a website banner

We also created a series of animations to bring the illustrations to life.

This renewed identity supports stronger connections across the Adelaide Hills and complements the Library’s broader services. The Mobile Library continues to draw visitors from communities throughout the region, extending this engagement even further.
