For 50 years the Firefly Children’s Foundation, previously known as the Channel 7 Children’s Research Foundation, has been a vital force for innovation, funding pioneering research to improve the lives of children.
Every breakthrough or program they champion today lights the way for a better tomorrow – a tomorrow where every child is healthy, happy and supported.
Our opportunity was to rebrand Channel 7 Children’s Research Foundation – taking the history, maintaining the essence and creating an identity that makes their impact visible – expressing both the emotional weight of their work and the scientific rigour behind it, in a way that feels human, credible and optimistic.
Our Approach
Our objective was to create a brand identity that brings clarity to complex research - making Firefly’s impact more visible, more tangible and more meaningful to the people it exists to support.
We focused on creating an identity that feels warm and familiar but credible, human but grounded in science, optimistic without losing the seriousness of the work.
Our approach centred on the idea of lighting the way forward — a brand narrative that reflects Firefly’s role in supporting breakthrough research while bringing clarity, hope and connection to families, researchers and the broader community.
A visual identity that communicates optimism, credibility and human connection, including a distinctive Firefly mark symbolising light, progress and possibility, a beacon that cuts through complexity.

It gives Firefly the tools to communicate with greater purpose and consistency, strengthening recognition while helping more people understand, connect with and support the impact of their work.
