In 2013, communikate et al was charged with developing and executing a community consultation strategy for Rostrevor College as part of the school’s plans to develop a community precinct in the local area.
The proposed master plan distributed for consultation would see the creation of facilities that could be shared between the school and the local community, including an early learning and development/child care centre, a community health centre, indoor courts, an indoor pool, art facilities and a cafe.
The consultation process was designed to inform residents and the school community about the draft plans and promote the opportunity for feedback and input before the plans were finalised.
During July and August 2013 we worked closely with the College to create flyers, posters and displays, coordinate information sessions, letterbox drops, publicity and stakeholder liaison, and draft web, email and newsletter communications regarding the proposal. We also prepared FAQs to assist the College in responding to community queries, created a community-friendly illustration of the master plan, and developed a feedback template and spreadsheet to assist in the collation of feedback.
The consultations attracted a high level of engagement from the local community with positive and constructive feedback received. The community feedback has now been collated into a report which will be presented to the relevant Minister in late 2013.
