Family carers save the Australian economy more than $40 billion each year, by providing in-home care to a friend or a loved one. For more than 10 years, communikate et al has partnered with Carers SA to raise the profile of this largely unrecognised group within South Australia and increase awareness of the services and assistance available through Carers SA.

With more than 220,000 family carers in South Australia alone, there are some remarkable stories to be told. However, due to the sensitivities that can surround caring, identifying case studies for use in the media can be difficult.

We have worked closely with family carers to ensure their stories are told accurately and with dignity, highlighting both the rewards caring can deliver, as well as the significant impact it can have on their physical, mental, social and financial wellbeing.

It’s also important to ensure publicity is aligned with Carers SA’s current initiatives and programs, whether it is increasing support to carers from culturally diverse backgrounds, calling for higher levels of Government support or demonstrating the plight of ageing carers.

communikate et al has succeeded in developing a consistent and diverse range of media coverage for Carers SA over the past decade, with highlights including large feature stories in The Advertiser, Sunday Mail and A Current Affair and maintaining a regular presence on talk-back radio.
